Where the Crawdads Sing…

Paddling in the Backwaters of Lake Monroe nestled in the heart of Indiana lies a hidden gem waiting to be discovered by outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.

I set out earlier this week to find some paddle - in campsites that are a part of Deam Wilderness Hoosier National Forest - Charles C. Deam Wilderness Two spots located up the channel towards Elkinsville have been on my radar. Planning to paddle/camp to them yet this Spring. (Stay tuned for that blog)

Away from the hustle and bustle this destination offers an escape into the beauty of Mother Nature. Paddling through the labyrinth like waterways of Lake Monroe's backwaters, you can GLIDEhttps://www.glidesup.com/SimplyFitness

calm waters bordered by the sounds of a gentle rustle of leaves and the occasional call of a distant bird. I heard Grass Carp floppin’ that morning.

One of the joys of exploring the backwaters is the opportunity to encounter a diverse array of wildlife. Keep your eyes peeled for sightings of turtles basking in the sun, graceful herons fishing along the shore and perhaps a majestic bald eagle soaring overhead.

As you navigate through the winding channels, you'll come across hidden coves and secluded alcoves. - A maze of waterways!

So, pack your vessel or let me guide you through the hidden wonders of Lake Monroe's backwaters.
